Botox and Fillers

Botox Instructions

To minimize the risk of possible side effects and complications of neurotoxin treatment, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Schedule your neurotoxin treatment appointment at least 4 weeks before a special event that you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Bruising and swelling may be apparent for up to two weeks after your treatment, and you may require refinement after the original treatment.
  2. Avoid smoking cigarettes at least 48 hours before your procedure, smoking slows down your healing process and increases your chances of bruising.
  3. Please withhold alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours prior to treatment, as they will thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising.
  4. Please avoid anti-inflammatories/blood-thinning medications, if possible, for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS prolong your bleeding time and increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
  5. Discontinue Retin-A use 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.
  6. If you do not feel well, have a rash, cold sore, or blemish in the treatment area; Please reschedule at least 24 hours in advance.
  7. If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores especially around the lips. Please disclose this to your provider so you can be prescribed antiviral medication prior to treatment.
  8. Avoid dental procedures (including cleaning) and vaccinations 4 weeks pre-treatment and post-treatment
  9. A good breakfast is imperative before your procedure. This will decrease any lightheadedness during your treatment or drastically reduce them is you are prone to them.
  10. Please arrive at the office with a clean face, which means NO makeup or tinted moisturizer.
  11. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you are not a candidate for treatment, I promise we will take great care of you after you have weaned your little angel.

As you prepare for your treatment, please notify our Medical Director, Samantha Lee of any changes to your medical history, health status including any recent vaccinations, or personal activities that may be relevant to your treatment. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you.
